Make Your Own Wedding Rings

Making your own wedding bands is an unforgettable experience. Wedding bands provide a life long symbol of your marriage and commitment together so the process of making them is just as important. There is no better way to start married life having spent the day together forging your own wedding rings, learning a new skill together.

You will have the workshop to yourselves and the full support of your tutor to help you through every step of the process giving you the freedom to create your very own wedding bands while teaching you the traditional skills of jewellery and silversmithing. You will be supported throughout the whole process in our welcoming, professionally equipped workshop to ensure you bands are perfect. You are not required to have any jewellery making experience.

You will finish the session with a glass of Prosecco to celebrate the creation of your very own wedding bands.

The day includes refreshments, lunch and snacks, and a glass of Prosecco.

The cost of the course is £490 not including materials. The course generally runs form 10-4pm during a Sunday session run by our Amy Hubbard. This includes pre planning of your design so we are ready for the day to bring your ideas to life.

Both rings can be sent off for hallmarking for £65 and you are then either welcome to collect your rings from us in person, or we will post your rings directly to you using Royal Mail’s Special Delivery Service. Hallmarking is not compulsory.

Overall you can expect the course and material costs to equate to purchasing wedding rings pre made from a shop directly. However this workshop provides an unforgettable experience to create your very own wedding bands together - a fantastic way to begin married life.

Where to start:

Where to start:

A good place to start is to look online on a platform such as Pinterest to decide on the style of bands you are looking to create. We have put together a Pinterest board to help outline the style of bands which you will be able to work on at Workshop 925.

If you would like engraving or stones set, we can also quote for this service.

We will also need to know your ring sizes and preferred wedding ring widths so we can cost up the material fees. To do this you can go to any high street jeweller and ask to be sized. Once we know the style of the bands you are aiming to achieve and ring sizes, we can then put together a quote and timings for your day and suggest possible dates.

Experience Required:

Experience Required:

You do not need any experience to make your wedding bands. We will guide you through each stage and help you follow each step.

If you would like to set stone within your ring, we would outsource this to our setter as we would not be able to accommodate stone setting within the day schedule.

Stone setting skills take some time to develop. If this is really something you wish to learn we can discuss a plan to achieve this, however advanced settings take time to work towards with many core jewellery making skills in place through time and practice to be able to get to the experience level to set stones. This of course depends upon design aims, so please do feel free to discuss your overall goal and we will guide you to the best path.

Using Scrap:

Using Scrap:

If you have some old jewellery you would like to melt down to repurpose, that is not a problem. If you are able to photograph your gathered scrap and also weigh it, that will help us calculate if you will require additional casting grain to create both bands.

This is a good way to use any old jewellery no longer worn and it also helps reduce the materials costs, as it will reduce the amount of precious metal that we need to source for your rings.
