WHAT DOES THE DAY INVOLVE?

Are you looking to move your jewellery making skills up to the next level?

In this class you will learn how to make a traditional Rex collet from scratch.

This decorative collet is a great stepping stone from making simple jewellery designs to making fine mounts. It will develop your skills in forming, soldering, measuring and piercing and finishing, giving you the confidence to move on to other more complex mount making projects .

We will form the collet working out the exact measurements for a set stone, and then incorporate decorative cut downs finally finish and polish also looking at the ways the collet can be used in ear studs, rings and pendants and how you would prepare it for these different uses.

We will also discuss setting stones into the collets and the tolerances required to make a good mount ready for setting.

Creating decorative collets from stock metal to order is a great way to challenge your skills and give you new confidence in your jewellery making skills

By the end of the day you will have finished collet ready for use and the skills and confidence needed to make more of your own to order.
