Women's Institute: Recycle Old Silver Jewellery – Pebble Designs – Bring Your Own Scrap SUNDAY 13th April 10-1pm
WHERE:
Workshop 925 based at The Mayford Centre, just outside of Woking and very close to Guildford.
Unit F9 The Mayford Centre,
Mayford Green
Woking,
Surrey
GU22 0PP
WHAT DOES THE DAY INVOLVE?
This is a brilliant workshop to recycle old silver jewellery you no longer wear, and transform it into something new.
We will demonstrate a range of designs you can produce with your pebble style designs as we begin the course - such as stamped pendants, impression die pendants or pebble earrings.
This is a really fun opportunity to melt down your old silver jewellery and have a really fun experiment with a variety of tools.
You are welcome to bring along chains or bangles to add your pebble design to. We are happy for you to experiment but will guide you with our timings on the day.
We will check that the silver your have brought along is silver and hasn't been incorrectly hallmarked. Occasionally, designs can be made from pewter or another non-precious metal, then silver plated and marked as silver 925 when it is not actually sterling silver- this can contaminate your other silver when melted together, so we shall check through our scrap beforehand.
If you do not have any scrap, no problem - we have casting grain you can purchase on the day!
WE WILL SUPPLY:
- Silver sterling jump rings and earring findings for your designs. Chains can be purchased from us at an additional cost.
- All tools and consumables are also included.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
No experience required, this course is suitable for all abilities.
