WHAT DOES THE DAY INVOLVE?
During this session, we will take you through the methods to design and create your very own silver earrings.
You will be provided with demonstrations on a variety of different techniques:
- How to make your own earring hooks
- How add textures to your designs using equipment such as the rolling mill, texture hammers and punches.
- You will also learn how to pierce (cut) and form you silver into shape.
- You will explore disc cutting tools.
- You will learn how to create french post style earring backs for stud designs.
- You will learn a wide range of jewellery making skills through the session to create your own handmade jewellery designs. You can expect to make around 2 pairs of earrings - however your designs will vary, some design ideas will take longer to create.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
No experience is required, all abilities are welcomed.
We support you throughout the session and provide demonstrations to show you the techniques and steps needed to create your own designs from start to finish.
If you have some experience you can develop your skills further using more advanced techniques to create your designs.

WHAT IS INCLUDED?
YOU WILL BE PROVIDED WITH:
Silver:
- 15 cm 0.9mm silver round wire for earring posts or hooks
- 4 cm x 4 cm 0.7mm silver sheet
- 10 cm 1mm silver round wire for jump rings
- All tools and consumables are supplied
The cost of this course includes all the silver required to create one to two pair or earrings. There is also additional silver available to purchase in the workshop if you wish to create more designs should time allow.
WHAT TO BRING:
- For safety reasons, during each class, you are required to wear appropriate footwear, we request that no open toe shoes are worn within Workshop 925.
- Long hair should also be tied back when working with the equipment.
- You may also wish to bring a notebook, there are always many tips and tricks given verbally by the tutor, which you might like to keep note of.
- Please bring along any snacks and drinks for the session. We have tea and coffee supplies you are welcome to help yourself to but make sure you bring enough refreshments and supplies to keep you going during the session. We have a fridge, microwave and kettle which you are welcome to use.
