WHAT DOES THE DAY INVOLVE?

This workshop day is designed to help you refine and practice the stone setting skills you’ve learned in previous masterclasses with Stephen. It offers a hands-on opportunity to apply and practice your knowledge with Stephen’s expert guidance available to address any challenges you might encounter.

The main aim of this day is to put your stone setting skills into practice, while receiving support from Stephen to remind you how to properly hold and use specific tools, reinforce setting techniques and help correct any bad habits affecting your progress.

During the day Stephen will circulate to provide individual support, sharing his tips to help you develop further.

By the end of this workshop, you should feel more confident in your ability to set stones or make stone setting mounts, have a clearer understanding of any areas needing further improvement, and be equipped with practical solutions to overcome challenges you’ve encountered in your stone setting journey.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Students should have setting practice and attended Stephen's classes before, you will not be learning new settings, however focus upon settings you have previously learnt but would like to practice in a fully equipped setting with Stephen's valuable experience to hand.

WHAT IS INCLUDED?

All tools are available to use, please bring along anything you require for your stone setting practice.

WHAT TO BRING:

For safety reasons, during each class, you are required to wear appropriate footwear, we request that no open toed shoes are worn within Workshop 925. Long hair should also be tied back when working with the equipment. You may also wish to bring a notebook. We have handouts for many demonstrations, but there are always many tips and tricks given verbally by the tutor, which some might like to keep note of. Please bring any lunch, snacks and drinks which you may want to your session. We have tea and coffee for you to help yourselves to.

For these sessions, it is also recommended to bring Optivisors if you have any or glasses which allow you to see smaller stones.
